Antarctic Cruise in Antarctica

useful links

Official Site (expeditions.com)

Ice floes, glaciers, whales, seals stormy seas - a trip into the Antarctic, the coldest, windiest, and driest place on earth, is not everyone's idea of fun. And yet a cruise into this white wonderland is one of the most extraordinary journeys on earth. More than 30 companies take tourists to Antarctica, from large 1000-passenger cruise liners to smaller 50-person vessels - most leaving from Tierra del Fuego in Argentina. You have to go in the Southern Hemisphere summer, when the days are long and the tundra comes alive with incredible bird, plants and mammal life. Typical trips last three weeks, but keep in mind that the larger ships boats cannot dock. For one of the most incredible journeys - with lectures from famous explorers and naturalists - go with Lindblad Expeditions.

Reviews of Antarctic Cruise

Ever since I was a child I've always had this slight obsession with the mystery that the Antartic holds. A place where no people live but only scientists and explorers visit! Well finally after about 30 years of thinking about the place I managed to take an Antartic Cruise and it was more impressive than I could ever have imagined. The cold, the scenery, the calm, the peace. It felt like we were in a different world. Some people on the cruise were so moved that at points they were in tears. I will be going back, but next time I'd like to spend more time there.
