Let’s face it, American resorts don’t really "do" apres-ski with the enthusiasm of the Europeans. For a true taste of the post-slopes party atmosphere you have to hit the Alps, more specifically St Anton in the Arlberg region of Austria, famous for its lively apres-ski scene. Grab yourself a mug of hot, sweet gluhwein and thaw out while the sun sets over the Alps and all around you people sway and sing into the evening.
The best spot in St Anton is probably the Krazy Kangaruh, not in the town at all, but up on the piste. From mid-afternoon onwards, skiers divert off the slope, plant their ski-poles outside and get stuck into the party. Get ready for blaring music, people dancing on tables in their ski boots and Jagermeister administered straight from bottle to mouth by the friendly waiting staff. Down in town there are plenty of other appealing places to try out – but do remember to try and save some energy for the slopes!
