Some things never go out of fashion. Bar Hemingway at the Paris Ritz is one of those places: wood panelled walls, deep leather arm chairs and a classic atmosphere redolent of a different era, this truly is one of the very best bars in the world.
Careful restoration has ensured that it looks as it did when the great author used to drink there. Single malt whiskies are the order of the day; the famous cocktails, mixed by award winning barman Colin P.Field are also a must. Try the Kashenka, a mix of Polish Vodka and strawberries, or the Benderitter which blends Champagne with ginger extract. Such pleasures come at an inevitable price and a cocktail will set you back over 20 Euros, but it’ll be worth it.
This is the hotel bar we all wish for but rarely encounter, cosy and intimate, exclusive but not intimidating, with photos taken by Hemingway himself adorning the walls and delicate piano music and well-to-do voices providing the soundtrack. A delight.
