The best part about the original Bloomingdale's is the Stila make up counter - the sales assistant there was lovely - gave both my friend and myself free makeovers as well as some free makeup (we did spend a fortune with her though!) The Soho Bloomingdale's has a far better selection of clothes and the dress floor is a dream!
shopaholic, London 08/6/2005Bloomingdales is pretty good, a New York version of Selfridges, though disappointingly without a food hall. However for top designer gear keep walking down 5th Avenue to Cantaloupe. Pricey gear, but truly original pieces from up-coming, cutting edge NY designers.
Evie Savva, London 10/1/2005Unlike the others I loved it. Spending far too much in one of the most famous shops in the world is always going to be a pleasure. (If you enjoyed it visit Macys too.) Ok, I won't deny it’s overpriced but did you really expect it to be cheap?!? Anyway enjoy the buzz of being in a fabulous city and purchasing goods from a shop that is nowadays more of an institution than a mere shopping experience.
ced5, London 09/11/2004My husband didn't seem to enjoy it as much as me!
Jane, Belfast 28/10/2004A decent department store, but nothing extraordinary. It's very passable and middle of the road. Either go trendier and hit up Barney's or Henri Bendel. If classic's more your style, Bergdorf Goodman is the place for you. Bloomingdales is only for those chasing middle of the road.
Vicks, New York 03/9/2004Over priced, over hyped and fortunately over there. Spend your time in NY City instead in the Soho district where stores are more individual rather than the bland transatlantic pap to be found in Bloomingdales.
Roger, London 20/7/2004Bloomimgdales - made wonderfully famous because 'Rachel' works there - is a must for New York shopping. It has everything a girl can dream of, a truly divine experience.
Claire, London 23/6/2004Bloomingdales is THE place to shop, but if you are more of a Village / Soho kind of person, then get yourself down to Broadway, as they have just opened a brand new beautiful store just a couple of blocks down from Dean and Deluca. Contemporary, light and airy you could spend hours (and lots of $s) there!
