Borough Market is London’s oldest food market and absolute heaven for foodies. The vast covered market, near Southwark Cathedral, is packed with stalls from the UK’s finest producers, most of whom actively encourage you to sample their product before you part with your cash.

Borough Olives is a great first stop-off, with every variety on offer you could wish for (try the fresh garlic-stuffed ones, they’re divine, trust us). The celebrated Ginger Pig is great for all things meaty, while the Neal’s Yard Dairy stall is a must for cheese fiends. Those with a sweet tooth need to make a beeline to Burnt Sugar stall, and the famous Borough Market brownies are also not to be missed.

It can get pretty busy on weekends, so you may want to refuel with a freshly made smoothie, or a cappuccino from the renowned Monmouth Coffee Company. Unless you have the will power of a saint, you may well end up with a clutch of items that weren’t on your shopping list, but at least you can rest assured that they’ll all be delicious.

Reviews of Borough Market

Pure foodie heaven. One of my favourite places in the world - it does get packed on a Saturday though, but it's worth wading through the crowds for. Had an amazing salt beef sandwich last time I was there.

Was there a while ago and bought all manner of goodies. Had lunch sitting in the grounds of southwark cathedral - yummy falafel - my partner swears by the Ginger Pig, but as a veggie, I was more interested in the smoothies and the wonderful, wonderful olives. And as mentioned below the cakes and brownies are quite spectacular.

Lived in the area for a couple of years and went there most weekends - fresh meat and fish particularly fab! Highly recommend a visit - check out the chorizo sandwich stall.

God, yes, the brownies are fab. I bought so much yummy stuff last time I was here. Olives, cheeses, this amazing walnut bread. It does get rammed on a Saturday though.

Love this place - I dare anyone with a sweet tooth to walk past those mountains of brownies and not buy one!
