Ice skating in Central Park reminds you of those Christmas movies you see; it's good fun even if you cant skate very well.

bigolhick, Southern Ohio 16/6/2006For any person who knows how to skate, the chance to do it amongst the skyscrapers of New York City is impossible to pass up. Indeed, many on the ice are just beginners, but this experience isn't a competition at all; it's the opportunity to take a break and socialize...on skates.
Remember: girls who skate always seem to be more attractive than your average New Yorker.
Seriously I can't stand Ice skating. But, if you must, this is simply the best place to do it, and somehow it's cool. This really is a genuine New York experience and people who live in Manhattan do it regularly during the winter months. It's a great place to hang out, and hunt for 'chicks'. There's plenty of places to sit and relax, get a hotdog, and if you're not feeling energetic you can admire the gardens, and buildings that surround it. You can also watch the very good skaters, and laugh at them if they fall over. The only slight criticism is the price: it's a bit expensive.
