What better way to kick of a sunny London Sunday than surrounded by flowers? If you like the sound of it then do as many Londoners do and head to this famous East End market. Some 50 stalls offer plants and flowers of every colour and type to brighten your day and your home. In addition to the market stalls there are numerous specialist garden shops and thousands of gardening enthusiasts crowd the streets every weekend to stock up on rarities or take advantage of the wholesale prices. The market began life as a general goods market in the 19th century and it was only in the 1920s that it came to specialise in plants and flowers. Trading starts at 8am and carries on until 2pm, so forego your Sunday lie in and pay this place a visit instead. Even if you’re not a hardcore gardener, it makes a beautiful place to browse and maybe pick up a few blooms, and there are plenty of charming cafes in the vicinity for people (and plant) watching.

Having been there lots of times, it is the perfect place to spend a Sunday to see (and buy) most of the flowers and plants grown in the world, however its quite a small market and you should plan to either do something else or get the plants home before they wilt! Parking isnt a problem.

Great place, flowers, food and retro homeware/clothes. Special evening openings for xmas on 5th, 12th and 19th - Wednesday evenings in December - promises to be one not to miss!

Fantastic - not just flowers but great unique shops selling hats, clothing art galleries and retro homewares, if you like the eclectic mix this is one not to miss.
