The name means Just Like Home, but if you’re accustomed to this kind of cooking at home then you’re very, very lucky indeed. Owned by the perfectionist chef Pierre Wynants, this is considered one of the very best restaurants in Belgium. Wynants’ cuisine is highly accomplished and complemented by friendly and attentive service that reinforces the homely atmosphere. Comme Chez Soi is neither as austere or intimidating as some temples to fine dining can be. Cooking is consistently excellent and, though the menu changes often, favourite dishes such as fillet of sole with a white wine mousseline and shrimp or sautéed lobster with truffles, crop up frequently. And though Wynants favours rich luxury ingredients like Beluga caviar and the aforementioned truffles, his food is never overly heavy, indeed he an inventive and progressive chef and the menu reflects his ceaseless creativity in the kitchen. The restaurant’s reputation is such that you’ll need to book well ahead to secure a table but, rest assured, it will be more than worth the effort.
