The renowned Antiguan resort, Curtain Bluff, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2002. And it’s easy to see why it’s been going strong for so many years: the setting, beside a gorgeous lagoon-fed beach is superb and the facilities are uniformly excellent. Attention to detail is obvious everywhere you look, from the immaculately tended tropical gardens to the spacious, simply furnished but comfortable bedrooms.
Meals can be eaten in the garden pavilion or you can dine on your balcony, watching the sun set together with a chilled bottle of wine. Magnificent as all this is, the Curtain Bluff spa is the true highlight of the resort. It has five treatment rooms in all, with one especially designed for couples and a ten-person hot tub overlooking the ocean. The treatment menu is extensive, embracing conventional massage and more unusual treatments like Caribbean green coffee wraps (superb for cellulite, apparently) and the spa's signature treatment, a caviar and champagne massage.
