Perched atop a mountain in a remote corner of British Colombia – at 7,700 feet above sea level – this is a dining room with a view and no mistake. Part of the popular Kicking Horse resort, the Eagle’s Eye restaurant is a gourmet destination with a high altitude kick. It really is like dining at the top of the world. The kitchens don’t just coast on the novelty either: this is fine food, yet still hearty enough to set you up for a day on the slopes. Local game dishes (buffalo, elk and other native cuisine) are a specialty. The room itself is also hugely appealing and romantic, with a log fire in the corner and, of course, floor-to-ceiling windows so you can take in the panoramic views as you munch. The ski runs that take you back down to the valley floor are all part of the appeal.
