A new Golden Age of the cocktail is being ushered in by cocktail queen Julie Reiner at this 1920s speakeasy-meets-21st century style bar. Reiner has a culinary approach to drinks that we're more used to seeing in kitchens, but it means her magical fusions like the Mint Jules and the Diablo are as immaculately layered and balanced as a Thomas Keller entree. With Cole Porter tunes, cosy red booths, mirrored walls and art deco curves, the space is perfect second-date territory, and if you time your visit right you may be able to catch guest "bartists" like Audrey Saunders from the esteemed Bemelman's Bar creating some of her own classics behind the counter.

I wandered down 19th street and found a brilliant oasis among all of the NYC clubs. A cocktail lounge to beat all cocktail lounges. It was like stepping back into what NYC must have been like in the 40's. The drinks are amazing -I never knew I could love gin!
