Floating Bars Of Belgrade
Away from the centre of Belgrade and the elegant Kalemegdan, lies one of the city’s most memorable features. Lining the left bank of the Sava River is a string of docked boats, which house Belgrade’s mini-riviera of floating bars and restaurants. Brash and colourful, each with a unique atmosphere, they make up some of Belgrade’s best night spots. While you can stop by for coffee during the day, as darkness falls they crank up the music and let loose the mirror balls. One of the most famous of the floating bars is the notorious Blaywatch (yes, really, that's its name), a disco bar with an indoor swimming pool. It’s quite pricey – and can require a reservation to get into – but it’s worth it to see Belgrade’s moneyed set getting down to dubious Slavic techno-folk. Amsterdam and Acapulco offer a similarly fashionable ambiance, and are also worth the taxi ride from the town centre. For a more relaxed and laid-back experience, Cafe Monza is also well worth checking out.
