At least 7 stars ! My most favourite spot to visit ever. Sitting at the edge of the canyon at sunset with almost no people around can't be beat. It truly teaches you how small we are and how insignificant in light of thousands of years it took to create this wonder.
claudiawyder, Liestal 10/7/2008Its alright but too hot.
hot dog, australia 01/8/2005It will be an experiences I will never forget. My girlfriend from medical school and I went to Arizona for a medical conference in Tuscon. The conference was held at the Canyon Ranch Spa! This was the first time for the both of us at the Canyon Ranch Spa. But to my surprise my girlfriend treated me to the biggest surprise in my life. We left Jackson, MS flew into Phoenix, rented a car and drove across the state of AZ where she showed me Sedona, and the Grand Canyon! It was all breathtaking for me.
This happened to be during my birthday on 6-26-05 and this was the greatest gift that anyone could have given me beside my mother bringing me into this world 49 years ago. I will never forget my reaction to the spectacular views of the Grand Canyon and all it's splendor. I do plan to visit this historical land mark again and may make it my second honeymoon celebration. Thanks to my best friend for making a dream come true.
I must admit I am not much of a scenery person but the immense majesty of the grand canyon is awe inspiring. I would highly recommend it!
snugglesbear, Denver 06/5/2005Back in 1996 my buddy and I drove cross country. We left LA two weeks before the Atlanta Olympics and returned two months later. Our last stop in our journey was the Grand Canyon. All I can say is WOW. Just looking at the beautiful formations and thinking that all of this was formed by natures fury was unbelievable. To think of the power that water holds is incredible.
I would highly recommend to anyone that you must go to the Grand Canyon at least once in your life.
Huge, and amazing vista. Highly recommended even for a quick stop if you're visiting nearby Las Vegas. Taking a plane over gives you some indication of how vast the canyon actually is.

We stopped for a couple of days in Vegas en-route to Hawaii, to break the journey from the UK. We decided that as we were there for only a short time we would try to see as much as we could. So on the first morning at 6.30 AM we set off by chopper and flew through the canyon while the sun was rising. The colors where truly astonishing. We then set down in the canyon for a Champaign breakfast, sat in aghast at its vastness and beauty, and toasted our choice of itinerary as the sun rose above the canyon wall. Truly magnificent!
It's 2 years since we went to the Grand Canyon and I'm still talking about it! We went in early November, so it was quiet and not too hot. We blazed a trail, like in the movies, to one of the less popular parts in a hire car that we'd promised not to take off-road! We were the only people there apart from a couple of locals selling jewellery.
On to the main West Rim of the Canyon, one of my ambitions has always been to fly in a helicopter (but not one of those 10-minute up and down jobs at fairs), so for my birthday we did just that. We did the 45 minute tour and throughout the whole experience we could hardly speak! It's all just too awesome to describe.
We negotiated a good price at The Grand Hotel and for two nights we even had the indoor pool and jacuzzi to ourselves. All in all it was an experience that I would love to repeat at some time in my life, but if I can't, then I'm happy to have done it the once!
My daughter and I flew to Arizona and we stayed at a Rustic Cabin in the Grand Canyon. The view, the atmosphere, the experience was wonderful! (except for the spider bite on my lip the first night) -did I mention the Rustic Cabin? We walked some of the trails, we went to the Indian Museum-I can't say enough about the experience- It was wonderful and my daughter and I will always have that memory of a great week together! (I also got to see the falcons through a telescope provided by a student with the university!)

JRSCHOON, NEW MARKET,MD. 25/9/2004We skipped the whole Vegas thing and flew into Phoenix. We rented a convertible and drove around Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico, stopping wherever seemed interesting. OF course that included most of the National parks, Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Mesa Verde, etc.... A great experience and a great way to see the Southwest.
funkyavocado, philadelphia 23/9/2004Like so many others, we started out in Vegas. We had some steam to blow off, and we succeeded over the course of four days. Still, the Canyon called, and I'm glad we made the trip. From atop the Southern Rim to the canyon bed aside the powerful Colorado, it was an experience that remains engrained in my memory. Down below, the might of the Colorado is awe-inspiring. Up above, the immensity and hues of the canyon against the bright blue sky are enthralling. I close my eyes, and the image still lingers. That is why I can't resist; I go back every year.
rehubler, Atlanta 18/8/2004What can be more awesome than having a champagne brunch by the side of the Colorado river, at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, after being brought there by helicopter from Vegas. As we flew down the Vegas strip the pilot switched on Elvis singing Viva Las Vegas in our headphones - everything took on a somewhat dream like quality as the neon flashed below us!
Sue, New York 27/7/2004Mind bogglingly magnificent and truly one of the most amazing natural wonders of the world. The best place to get there is from Las Vegas which in itself is a pretty impressive place too. There are lots of companies based in Las Vegas that offer trip to and tours of the grand Canyon. One of the best (but also more expensive) ways to see it is by helicopter. Otherwise you can take a flight and then a coach ride along the rim of the canyon. To get a completely different perspective of the canyon you can raft along the rapids or go on horse / donkey!
