Horseback to Bassin Bleu in Haiti

The island of Haiti in the Caribbean gets easily overlooked when it comes to holiday destinations in that part of the world, but the Bassin Bleu sequence of pools and waterfalls about seven miles west of the town of Jacmel is one very good reason to pop in and see what all the fuss is about. The falls, located high in the hills, are accessible by car, but by far the most evocative way of getting there is on horseback, a trip that will take between 1½ and 2 hours. Once you’re there, you will be amazed by the sparklingly clear waters in the series of pools which cascade one into the other and invite you to take the plunge and have a swim. The deepest of the pools requires a spot of abseiling to reach and the more athletic ones among you will be tempted to dive into it. With views from the top over the beautiful Jacmel Bay, there are few places on the planet that offer such a scenic location for a relaxing dip in the sun.

Reviews of Horseback to Bassin Bleu

I just visited bassin bleu while in Haiti and loved every minute of it. The water was clean and refreshing. Don't be afraid to dive off of the high rock - it looks like you'll never clear the rocks, but after you take the plunge, you'll see why it's worth it!

Guides will follow you and demand payment unless you specify how many. I suggest two guides, and 125 gouds each is appropriate.
