Hawaii is well known for its stunning beaches, breathtaking landscapes and tropical temperatures- but nothing encompasses the spirit of Hawaii like a true Hawaiian hula festival. These fierce competitions last several days and are more than just about grass skirts and flowered leis; they are about the celebration and perpetuation of the rich and genuine Hawaiian culture. The most famous hula festivals including the Merrie Monarch Festival in Hilo and The World Invitational Hula Festival in Honolulu combine the ancient with the modern as they commemorate their ancestors and carry their heritage into the future- all in the form of hula. No trip to Hawaii is complete without you and your mates sitting front and centre observing this beautiful, time honored tradition of hula. And as the motto of the Merrie Monarch Festival goes, "hula is the language of the heart, therefore the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people."

The 2008 festival takes place between 6th and 8th November.
