The Meridien Lingotto hotel has no gym, no swimming pool, no sauna and no spa. In fact, it has very little to attract the fitness fanatic at all and yet it is still something of a pilgrimage point for early morning joggers. Why?

Housed in the building that was once Fiat’s world production headquarters, the 1km-long rooftop test track has since been handed over to Meridien’s exclusive use. So fear not, racecars are nowhere to be seen nowadays, in fact visitors are remarkably few and far between. Which is exactly the point.

Rise early with a jogging partner, grab the access key from reception and take the lift 1168m up to catch the sun rise over a typically misty Turin landscape. Mountains will gradually appear on one side, while the city spreads out beneath you on the other; without doubt, one of the world’s most memorable jogging locations.
