Built in 1756, La Casa de la Marquesa is an outstanding example of the architectural riches of colonial Mexico. Following a painstaking restoration by teams of art historians, the beautiful building was opened as a sumptuous family-owned hotel in 1995. The results are truly majestic: richly decorated and visually stunning. The hotel’s 25 suites have been individuality decorated with flair and attention to detail, and are furnished with fine antiques and objets d'art from all over the world. The atmosphere is exotic and undeniably romantic, one steeped in the aura of days gone by. Despite its lavish appearance, La Casa De La Marquesa is not imposing, far from it; indeed it has a warm and welcoming air. The sensory richness continues in the hotel’s restaurant, the Comedor de la Marquesa, which serves Mexican and international cuisine prepared with care from the finest ingredients.
