Precise service from charming, sharp and informative local waiters is matched with a dining room that might be classed as somewhat informal considering the exceptionally high standard of cooking here. In a countryside setting such as this however, and particularly in South Africa, anything more would have seemed pretentious, and for all its carré d’agneau rotis and pavé de thon grilles, pretentious is one thing La Colombe is not.
