If you’re planning an anniversary treat or looking for the perfect setting to pop a particularly important question, then you’d be hard-pressed to find a better place to do it than Le Manoir au Quat’ Saisons, the gorgeous manor house in the Oxfordshire countryside that houses Raymond Blanc’s two Michelin-starred restaurant of the same name. For a truly memorable dining experience, the seven course Menu Gourmand takes some beating. Food is of an exceptional high standard, (sample dishes from the seasonally changing menu include assiette of suckling pig and Cornish red mullet with fricasse of squid) and a good deal of the produce is drawn from Le Manoir’s own vegetable garden. The wine cellar is comparably impressive.
Make the occasion complete with a stay at the luxurious hotel – the Provencal-themed Eugenie suite is a particularly good bet. While none of this comes cheap – Le Manoir is definitely a special occasion kind of place – service is impeccable and the attention to detail second to none; book an evening here and you’re bound to make someone very happy.
