Few restaurants in the world have dining rooms as opulent as that of the Le Meurice hotel in Paris. There isn’t a surface free from gilt and marble; antique bevelled mirrors hang on the walls and Louis XVI crystal chandeliers drip from the ceiling. The specially created china has even been designed to match the mosaic pattern on the floor. It might all prove rather overwhelming were it not for the large bay windows that flood the room with light, and stop the décor from becoming oppressive. Even so, the cooking would be in danger of becoming an afterthought, if it wasn’t of such a high standard. Thanks to the talents of executive chef Yannick Alléno the restaurant has scooped up numerous awards and accolades, cumulating with a highly-coveted third Michelin star. Le Meurice serves impeccable regional French cuisine, and the desserts, created by the renowned Pastry Chef Camille Lesecq, are a particular highlight. This is a place for those who like a meal out to be an event in every sense.
