There are few theatres in the world more gloriously situated then Cornwall’s Minack. The theatre was created by Rowena Cade who moved to the area following the First World War and built Minack House for herself and her mother. There they staged regular theatrical performances but soon needed a bigger space so looked across the bay. They painstakingly created a performance space on a rocky ledge above the Atlantic, a lengthy process that had to be all but repeated following the ravages of the Second World War. Shakespeare has formed the heart of the repertoire ever since and few things can beat sitting with a glass of wine watching a performance with the sea providing a unique and beautiful backdrop.
