What is an Urban Resort actually? We’re not sure. But if the Murano Urban Resort in Paris’ Marais district is anything can go by, we know we like them. The super-stylish hotel has 52 almost aggressively minimalist rooms and suites, every one bathed in soothing, modifiable coloured lighting with Pop Art-style canvases suspended above the bed. The bathrooms are all sleek black slate, and the floors are covered in the fluffiest white shag-pile this side of the 1970s. The hotel, sorry ‘resort,’ takes its name from the Venetian Murano glass that liberally peppers the interior.
Created out of a run-down apartment house and an adjacent three storey car-park, the Murano Urban Resort will not be for traditionalists, but for those who like their design forward-looking with a sense of fun, there will be much to delight here. The bar is a particular joy, bright and funky, with an excellent cocktail list and an unabashed fashionable vibe.
