Acclaimed by Travel and Leisure magazine, amongst others, the Oberoi Rajvilas is one of India’s very best spa resorts. Twenty minutes outside Jaipur, it makes for an opulent and romantic destination. The palatial buildings are pastel-coloured and surrounded by gardens and fountains – a sight made all the more striking by the spa’s rather dry, dusty location. Standard rooms are pleasantly if simply decked out, with truly beautiful glass and marble bathtubs. For a really special experience though, you’ll need to opt for one of the Oberoi Rajvilas’ separate villas – these all have private pools and have proved popular with Bill Clinton amongst others. But it’s the Spa that’s the thing here, and with good reason – there are numerous therapy suites, plus steam rooms, saunas and plunge pools: the works. The treatment menu covers everything from Ayurveda to aromatherapy, and there are early morning yoga sessions in the gardens for those who want them. If that all sounds a little too virtuous, don’t worry, the restaurant serves a rich array of Indian and international cuisine.
