From the outside the Sheraton Grand is rather deceptive – it looks like a bland, corporate city centre hotel – and that’s fine, because that’s ostensibly what it is. However the anonymous exterior houses one of the very finest spas in Britain. The ONE Spa has picked up numerous awards and glowing press write-ups since it opened in 2001, all genuinely deserved.
Arranged over three levels, this vast space, dedicated to indulgence and pampering, is entered via an elevated glass walkway. Once inside, highlights include the Thermal Suite, which offers a range of hot and cooling therapies designed to stimulate all five senses, and the sumptuous Aroma Grotto. All the treatments on the extensive menu are by ESPA and special day packages available to non-residents. But what really elevates this place above the competition is its rooftop hydro pool, the only one of its kind in Europe – so while you lounge in its warm soothing waters you can enjoy superb views of the Edinburgh skyline.
