Italians know their food. There’s just no arguing with that. And where does the discerning Italian go to stock up on porcini mushrooms, Parma ham, olive oil, wine and other such necessities? Well, if they’re from Milan, probably Peck, a temple to all things edible spread over three tempting floors.
Opened over 100 years ago, Peck has evolved into something of an Italian institution – with a global reputation for the quality of its produce. The ground floor is given over to the shop itself; meats, cheeses, olives, all stacked in impeccable pyramids. (This is Milan after all, Italy’s fashion capital, and it’s essential everything looks amazing too). The basement houses a well-stocked wine cellar, with some 5000 labels to choose between, and on the top floor – for those who can’t quite wait to go home before indulging - there’s a cafe and a superb patisserie. Such is Peck’s popularity that it even has its own – two Michelin-starred – restaurant, Cracco-Peck, where all the dishes are created with ingredients available in-store.

Had a memorable (if expensive) meal in Cracco-Peck and stocked up on goodies here while in Milan - definitely worth visiting.
