Petersham Nurseries, in posh, pretty Richmond, has quickly become the ultimate destination of ladies who lunch. The brainchild of Skye Gyngell, renowned chef and Vogue food writer, this garden centre-slash-cafe has unexpectedly become one of London’s dining hot-spots. The menu changes every day depending on what's growing in the garden and available at the market and the food is fresh as it gets, simple and well-presented, though rather ambitiously priced, even for cooking of this quality. But then Petersham Nurseries knows its audience: moneyed yummy-mummies, mostly, and well-read Richmond-ites who know a thing or two about Puy Lentils and girolles.
The furniture is rickety and there’s soil on the floor, but this kind of thing – everything rustic, organic, and locally sourced – is super-fashionable at the moment, and Petersham Nurseries has it down to a fine art.

The food here is fantastic. Don't expect to be able to eat in the restaurant without booking, but you can usually get a table in the cafe for a cup of tea and a slice of their delicious cake. Oh, and they sell plants too!
