Why St Tropez? Just look at the heritage. In the 19th century Matisse and Bonnard fell in love with its light and inaccessibility. In the 1950s Brigitte Bardot made everyone fall in love with her and it. The glam and the good have continued to flock there ever since and its name has become synonymous with movie star glitz.

Truly, one of the most beautiful place on Cote D'Azur, St Tropez is still all bright blue water, exclusive yachts, and beautiful beaches; it's also the ancestral home of the G-string bikini. Here you can really live it up for all you're worth (and it helps if you're worth a fair bit). Be hedonistic by night and dozy by day. Grab a drink in one of the harbourside cafes and watch the very rich and the very beautiful promenade past the plane trees and the sparkling sand. Eat a baguette, sip a cafe and pinch yourself - this is real life, for some.

Reviews of St. Tropez

St. Tropez is known for the celebrities that used to live there and the life they used to lead. Although going there is a delightful experience each time, the celebrities have left due to the overcrowded streets during the weekend and the crowd of tourists that come there to feel like they belong in such rich society. Me and my friends go there every summer because we have houses there. It is spectacular for a weekend, maybe a week, but not really worth staying any longer.

It is amazing there. There is rarely a cloud in the sky. It is great if you know someone there who can tell you the best places and everything. It truely is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I would definitely recommend going. Oh and if you do, you must go to the Les Caves du Roy nightclub.

There are no words to describe how beautiful and fabulous Saint Tropez is. When a friend suggested we go there, I never imagined it was going to be the best trip of my life. I am anxious to go back on my next holidays!

Just the right balance of quaintness and bling - with its fishing village appearance and array of designer shops lining every cobbled street. Balmy evenings can be spent admiring the million dollar yachts, glancing at the Ferrari's and Porsche's as they fly by, then gorging on unbeatable food (much to the detriment of your wallet)! The Nikki Beach area served all our sea and sunbathing needs, with the exclusive coral (where you can lounge on beds and watch the beautiful people pose in their Gucci sunglasses). All in all, a beautiful, fun and relaxing place, where shopping, dining, lounging on beaches or just perusing local villages is the order of the day.

St. Tropez is a great little town, full of the finer things in life! If you have champagne tastes on a beer budget, start saving now! Good food, wonderful atmosphere - a nice drive from Nice.

The myth is hard to live up to - enjoyed sitting on the front, having a glass of Kir but found St. T overcrowded and over- priced - probably best to get some advice before you go to find out the best places.
