Breakfast is making a comeback in London. It used to be a city that knew about such things, but as people became more health concious, the popularity of the great English breakfast dwindled. However this was only ever likely to be a blip, an English man needs something more than museli in his stomach to set him up for the day.
The opulent Wolsely on London's Piccadilly is, among its many virtues, a great place to breakfast. Choose from buttered crumpets, French toast, kippers with mustard butter, smoked salmon bagels, delicious pastries, eggs benedict, Cumberland sausage sandwiches or, of course, the venerable Full English. Wash this all down with freshly squeezed juice, or coffee or tea from an impressive selction. Though your attention may be elsewhere do glance around at the room as you eat, as the Wolseley boasts one of the most lavish dining areas in the city.
You'll pay a bit more than in an average greasy spoon cafe, but come on, if you're going to do it, best do it in style.
